BDO close to former PDP minster holds three blocks from last two years

Gram Sevaks, VLWs occupy desk in ACD office Anantnag leaving Junior Assistants workless

Srinagar, Jun 12 (RNA): Believe it or not, a Block Development Officer in Anantnag district is not holding one, two but three blocks as additional charge for not one , or two months but from last more than two years. Courtesy!! His alleged proximity with a former PDP minster. Sources told RNA that BDO Hilar has been running three additional blocks including Shahabad Dooru, Veering and the Hilar from last more than two years with authorities reluctant to post any one there as Block Development officer. Though there are no specific charges of ‘mismanagement’ on part of the officer, the sources said that not letting anybody to join in these blocks hinted towards a possible ‘Politico- Babu’ nexus in these area. Pertinently a BDO of the same Sothern district was suspended after an alleged ‘Job Card’ scam came to fore raising eyebrows on the sanctioning of the system in the district.  The sources told RNA that the BDO holding the charge of three blocks was a blue eyed boy of a former PDP minster who was instrumental in installing him in the three blocks. The added since then nobody has been able to remove him at least from the additional charge burden resulting in huge inconvenience to the public.

“Please tell me, how an officer can hold three blocks for a long span of two and a half years. I fail to understand what this government is doing.” a local told RNA.

Meanwhile RNA has learnt from sources that in many BDO offices and even in the Assistant commissioner Development office in the district, number of Gram Sevaks and Village Level Workers are holding desks leaving the Junior Assistants virtually workless. They said some Clarks are there for last many years which have allowed them to keep the system and the officers under their control.

Director Rural Development Kashmir, Qazi Sarwar Ahmad told RNA that due to code of conduct they were not able to effect  transfers but added that in coming few days all overstaying officers and officials would be transferred. (RNA)
